Incomputationalhydraulics,asinthemathematicalsciencesgenerally,we distinguishbetweentwokindsofsigns,theonebeingoperatorsandthe otherconstitutingoperands.Wethenchoosetoselectforconsiderationonly asmallsetofoperatorsinorderthatwecaninvestigateeachindividual operatorseparatelyinsomedetail,solettingtheonusofgeneralityfallupon theoperands,whichwesupposecanbeeffectivelyinfiniteinnumberand appearinginacorrespondingvariety,evenifnarrowlydefined.
