ABSTRACT

On a very general level we understand rural development as a process which brings about a more diversied economy and improved quality of life. Local development actions can be understood as processes where local actors, including persons, groups and institutions, try to mobilise various kinds of local and external resources. In this chapter we are focusing attention onto those networks from the six case study areas (introductions for which can be found in Chapter 1) that have participated in signicant events or turning points of local development. Table 2.1 lists the networks used as the basis for the observations in this chapter.
