ABSTRACT

One of the biggest challenges faced by anyone leading a complex organization is getting all the parts pulling in the same direction. Notice the word ‘pulling’ here. This is about their behaviour not yours. While as leader you may set a strategic goal for the whole of your organization, you will inevitably feel at times like people are doing things in spite of this goal rather than because of it. At times it will feel like your organization is pulling itself apart as people apparently head in different directions.
