ABSTRACT
Previous sections have detailed some of the problems bedevilling the construction of human alerting systems. These problems are reviewed, the characteristics of an ideal alerting system and the arguments for multiple measures of vigilance level are outlined, and some practical features of an alerting system are discussed.
