ABSTRACT
This chapter examines Chinese diplomacy towards the Middle East since the early 1990s, with focus on China’s efforts in obtaining energy, its military and security relations with Middle Eastern countries, and its fight against separatism and terrorism along its northwestern border. It also explores how Chinese activities in the Middle East affect US interests and US-China relations.
