ABSTRACT

This chapter describes a follow on study from the exploration of the potential for CCS in North West England, described in Chapter 6, adopting a similar approach for two the regions of the East Midlands and Yorkshire and Humberside combined (EMYH). Here, we are interested in the potential for CO2 storage at locations in the southern North Sea basin, how this relates to potential storage requirements emanating from the region and the perceptions of a variety of stakeholders from the public and private sectors regarding the role of CCS within the region. As a follow on study, the research explores similar questions, namely:

1. What is the potential for CO2 storage in gas fields and saline aquifers beneath the southern North Sea?
