ABSTRACT
In this chapter I trace the development of harmonic accompaniment in the village music style. I begin my analyses of repertoire with village music because its harmonic vocabulary is simpler than wedding music and choral obrabotki. In addition, the village style developed earlier and served as a foundation for all other styles.
