ABSTRACT

Every term around 300 students at the Department of Social Work at Stockholm University are doing some part of their undergraduate study in a field placement. Placements are a curriculum requirement of the seventerm academic study programme that alternates between theory and practice. The emphasis on practice occurs during the third and the sixth terms, where the students undertake some weeks close to social work practice in an organisation with a trained supervisor. During the sixth term the students remain in practice for 15 weeks, and there are specific guidelines that both students and supervisors have to follow.
