ABSTRACT

The experiences of those writing in this book has indicated that only the effective management of difficulties, good-will, a commitment to partnership and a shared value system have enabled participants within international exchange schemes to stay on the positive side of what often appears as a thin line between standing on firm ground and falling into chaos. Success becomes part of a cycle that spawns further gains and increases the worth of becoming involved in promoting international social work despite participants finding that they have to engage in such work on top of their usual workloads.
