ABSTRACT

Social bookmarking takes bookmarks and removes the one-user-only barrier. These type of services have been around since the late 1990s, but only became mainstream in 2005/06.

A social bookmarking service acts as a facility for storing your bookmarks. You can of course keep your bookmarks private; even here these services are useful because they mean that your bookmarks can be accessed on whatever computer you happen to be using, without you having to take a file of your bookmarks around with you.
