ABSTRACT

With widespread access to the resources of the Internet it is common practice for students to make use of electronic information resources for their studies. While you may be delighted that they are prepared to widen their horizons in this way, it may also be alarming if they alight on inappropriate material, or lack the ability to select and interpret this material wisely, or perhaps see it as a golden opportunity to download material that they can pass off as their own. The aim of this chapter is to describe what is known about information literacy, to outline the ways in which electronic resources are used for study, and then to suggest how you might help your students to use the resources of the web effectively in a blended strategy.
