ABSTRACT

The effectiveness of a blended course will be greatly influenced by the skill, enthusiasm and availability of the staff who work on it. They will need staff development to be effective, unless they already possess the relevant experience. In this chapter, I discuss the perspectives of academic staff and how this affects the feasibility or appropriateness of staff development for tutoring a blended course. I go on to describe a range of strategies for providing staff development, including the use of online communities.
