ABSTRACT

Wittgenstein is one of the pivotal figures of twentieth-century philosophy. Indeed, his influence has in some ways helped determine the shift from the modern to the postmodern. Three works, Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus (1921), The Blue and Brown Books (1958)1 and Philosophical Investigations (1953), illustrate the change that has taken place in contemporary Western philosophy. His work has certainly influenced many postmodern and critical theorists.
