ABSTRACT

The format of the narrative cycles of Paris 54 and Iviron 5 is very much indebted to illustrated lectionary texts.3 Illustrated lectionaries featured individually framed narrative miniatures inserted throughout their text long before they are found in illustrated Gospel books.4 In fact, only two
