ABSTRACT

Simply put, it can be said that each team perfonnance (P y) is a product of its participants' individual skills (S) and the behaviour (B) expressed in interhuman modalities:

and behavior results in a product that is equally complete, i.e., a 100% team performance:

Even with the leamed skills at 100%, a collapse results when behavior is so damaged that team members can no longer implement their own capabilities. This effect can be found in many subpar perfonnances or production by committee in industrial and service-related operations, in partnerships or, last but not least, in the case of aircraft incidents:

"the real stuff'. Tllis can be found in daily operations as well as in all borderline cases. Tllis is what our investigations have revealed as the central causal factor in incidents, accidents or even simple mistakes (Hamman, Seamster & Edens, 1995; Eissfeldt, 1995).
