ABSTRACT

The unacceptably high level of aviation incidents and accidents involving human error has caused the industry to look more closely at the human element of the system. One of the initiatives implemented in an attempt to reduce the number of human error related accidents and incidents is that of Crew Resource Management (CRM) training. CRM can be defined as: "the most effective use of all available resources to achieve the optimal functioning of the aircraft"(Bilton1994). The training ofCRM principles focuses on social skills as opposed to teclmical skills.
