ABSTRACT
Safety is an important issue for aviation. For some, this is because aviation has the potential to be so dangerous, whilst for other it is because aviation has proven itself to be so safe. Either way, safety is condition to be striven for, but does anyone really know what safety actually is? In the absence of a universal description, it is possible that everyone is actually aiming towards different goals.
