ABSTRACT

Many first-time users of assessment centres find the logistics of running the centre daunting. There are many practical aspects to consider before, during, and after an assessment centre, some of which have already been described in Chapter 2. A summary of all the planning issues appears at the end of this chapter (see Figure 5.7). In terms of activities that occur during an assessment centre, the elements that need to be combined are: participants, exercises, assessors, equipment, rooms and, according to needs, roleplayers and resource people. All of the people concerned will need to know at any one time where they are supposed to be, what they are meant to be doing, with whom and, in the case of assessors, who they are observing.
