Analysisofaviationskillsinvolvesidentifyingthecognitiveand psychomotorskillsrequiredforparticulartasksorgroupsofsubtasks. Traditionaltaskanalysissegmentsajobintobehaviorallydistincttasksand theircomponentactivities,andthendeterminestheskillsneededforeach. InCognitiveTaskAnalysis(CTA),skillsareanalyzedinsubstantiallymore detailbasedontheircognitivecomponents.Thischapterdescribeshowto analyzeaspecifictypeofskill,theautomatedskill.Italsopresentssome backgroundinformationtohelpanalystsdistinguishbetweenknowledge andskills,andtodistinguishfurtherbetweenthedifferenttypesofskillsto beanalyzed.
