ABSTRACT

There are several issues surrounding the Festive Greeting that need to be addressed at the conclusion of this study. Large parts of the preceding chapters were concerned with a better understanding of Orfelin’s panegyric and its relation to the contemporary and local works of the same genre. Equal space was allotted to the explanations and investigations of the pictorial narrative; its connection to the rite of investiture in the Archbishopric was analysed in depth. Also, specific attention was devoted particularly to the emblematic images and the labyrinthine poetry that represent such expressive characteristics of the Festive Greeting. We are still far from a complete picture, however.
