Fathers - The Solution or Part of the Problem? Single Mothers, their Sons and Social Work

In late modern society many of the previously uncontested narratives of the family have been called into question. Whereas alternatives to the traditional nuclear family was frequently discussed in the 1970s, today we can see how these alternatives have become social reality (Lasch, 1977; Johansson, 2000). Traditional ways of living and constructing gender roles are clearly contested, not only discursively but also in social life.
