ABSTRACT

DURING the 1950$ and early 19605 trooping, or the carriage of military per-sonnel and their families to overseas bases and back, played a vital part in thedevelopment of U.K. civil aviation, particularly for the private sector. Indeed, it is difficult to overestimate the importance of trooping for the privatelyowned U.K. airlines, the so-called 'Independents', during this period.
