ABSTRACT
The most complex part of the system, is that associated with the controller. Under most conditions it is also the most capable part of the system and therefore should be considered and discussed in depth. In the first section the issues associated with human information processing will be discussed, and in the second section, each of the sensory areas will be considered. Thirdly, the area of situation awareness will be explored and the problems of decision making will be covered. In the final section the issues of selection and training will be briefly discussed.
