ABSTRACT

The purpose of the first chapter of this Short Guide is to give the reader some initial context. The chapter provides some practical examples of the Equality, Diversity and Discrimination (EDD) Agenda in operation. Some of the examples are good; some examples are strange or odd. Other illustrations given in this chapter are much worse. Such bad or ugly examples show what can happen when there is a failure to understand and to implement the EDD Agenda in the two key locations for this Guide, that of the workplace and that of the service environment.
