ABSTRACT

You’ve just started a new job in a large factory. At lunchtime your stomach is rumbling but you don’t know where to find the staff canteen. A colleague gives you directions: ‘Take the lift to the third floor, turn right and then left at the end of the corridor.’ You follow her instructions and, sure enough, they lead you to the canteen. This is explicit learning. Someone tells you what you need to know in a clear, rational way and you process that information consciously and logically.
