Bishop Henry of Winchester brings ancient statues from Rome to Winchester

Henry of Blois, Bishop of Winchester, was King Stephen's brother. He lived in princely style, building palaces within his diocese. He had had hopes of being appointed Archbishop of Canterbury, and when he was disappointed, was created Papal Legate, which made him the most senior churchman in England. But he also desired to raise Winchester to the level of an archbishopric for the west of England, although these efforts were unsuccessful.
