ABSTRACT
If Callicles wanted to object to any suggestion that men’s lives ought to be dominated by prudence at every turn, he would have been on strong ground, but his position is not clear in this regard. He seems to be objecting to a view like that of Anytus, and it is interesting that Plato gives us that view as a criticism of Socrates.
