ABSTRACT
Abbey National Building Society. It was registered in 1979 as an independent union with 4,463 members. It offers members assistance in negotiation of wages, salaries and contracts. In 1998 the organisation affiliated to the TUC. In 2002 the name was changed to the Abbey National Group Union to ‘correctly reflect that we are a certified trade union’. Membership in 1986 stood at 6,824 (5,386 female) and 8,874 members in 2004.
