AMALGAMATED SOCIETY OF COMBMAKERS or Combmakers Society of Aberdeen Reg. 86s Formed in 1890, the Society registered in the following year. It had 258 members in 1892, falling to 119 in 1897 when it was to be found at 19 Canal Street, Aberdeen. By 1900 its numbers increased to 360, only to fall again to 251 in 1904 and to 223 in 1907 when its secretary was at 47 Belmont Terrace, Aberdeen. In 1913 the secretary of the Society was W. Christie at 45 Causewayend, Aberdeen. It was dissolved in the following year, its membership transferring to the National Union of Gasworkers and General Labourers, Scottish District.
