ABSTRACT
In a simple project, the execution of downstream activities such as ‘deliver carpet’ and ‘lay carpet’ are dependent on the completion of upstream activities such as ‘purchase carpet’ and ‘prepare room’. ‘Lay carpet’ is dependent on ‘deliver carpet’ which, from this perspective, is an upstream activity. However, it is also conceivable that ‘purchase carpet’ would depend on information that you reveal when you prepare the surface! Of course, this would be determined by the project analysis, for which the design matrix would be useful.
