ABSTRACT

One of the most important tasks of engineering managers is to groom novice engineers and technicians; however, it is almost impossible for managers to do so full time. Therefore, engineering managers must assign mentors to novice engineers or technicians. Mentoring is not every engineer’s cup of tea. Mentors must be chosen carefully and must be willing to perform their mentoring duties. Mentors guide novice personnel through best practices in the engineering department and instill in them the importance of maintaining the highest technical and professional standards at all times.
