ABSTRACT

The search for a happy and just political system, as well as for harmonious and unified society, goes back to the Ancient Times, i.e. to Plato’s “State” dating back to the 4th century B.C.

The term “utopia” is derived from the Latin title of Thomas More’s book published in 1516. This title is not explicit, and its two way interpretation as ou-topos – a ”non-existent” place or eutopos – a “good place” leads to the conclusion that the author’s message was that it is an ideal and at the same time implausible place. As of to date, the concept of utopia is associated with an ideal solution, perfect but unattainable place (Szacki 1980: 14-27).
