Tirana: Colour and art on the way to utopia

In the second edition of the Biennial of Tirana, 2003, the curators Hans Ulrich Obrist and Anri Sala, created the “Façade Project” passing the authorship of the drawings into the hands of international artists like Rirkrit Tiravanija, Dominique Gonzalez Foerster, Liam Gillick and Olafur Eliasson, (Fig. 3). Later on, in the 2009’ Biennial, six new artists were invited to make drawings for another six buildings, Franz Ackermann, Tomma Abts, and Adrian Paci among others3. These were more conceptual proposals and intended to reflect on topics such as indwell and urban environment.
