ABSTRACT

English syntax is enormously flexible and pliable. A given set of words can be as sembled in numerous ways. (You may have played word games such as "move the ad verb" in your grammar classes.) Having several alternative ways to arrange your ideas in a sentence empowers you to choose the focus of attention, to improve the rhythm of your prose, and to impact the artistic effects of the writing overall, even when you are writing professional or business documents. This chapter provides several more ways to direct your readers' attention and interest by using unusual syntax.
