ABSTRACT.Thisstudyexaminedtheeffectivenessofa newsletterwrittenbyteenagersonsexualandhealth issuesinchangingknowledgeandattitudesregarding sexualactivity,condomuse,anddruguse.Fourhundred andnineteenhighschoolstudentscompletedapretest, weregivenacopyofaneight-pagenewsletteronsexual andhealthissuestoreadashomework,andthencompletedaposttestduringthenextclassperiod.Findings indicatethatreadingthenewsletterledtomorepositive attitudestowardpostponingsexualinvolvementand morenegativeattitudestowardusingdrugs.Moreover, thenewsletterwasparticularlyeffectiveinchangingthe knowledgeandattitudesofBlackstudents.Discussion focusesontheimplicationsofthesefindingsforschoolbasedsexualityeducation.
