ABSTRACT

Many companies are facing serious losses and wastes that have their main origin in the quality of their planning process. The business environment has changed, but many enterprises continue to implement the principles and practices of traditional strategic planning. Corporate strategy has become too mechanical, and a tool to exercise power rather than a source of inspiration. Strategic planning has become increasingly important and difficult. On the one hand, it takes longer to consider all the factors that interact in an increasingly complex business environment; on the other hand the windows of opportunity open and close pretty fast. Strategic planning should produce the business-strategy that will direct people and invest the corporate capitals in order to place the enterprise in the right place, at the right time, with the right means, so as to achieve the right kind of results. Like all principal management practices, also strategic planning is equipped with many theories and tools.
