ABSTRACT

What comes first? Emotion or action? Do we feel a specific emotion because of a specific action right at that moment when the action happens? Or, are we disposed to feel a certain way and use that action as an excuse to express our emotion? On the other hand, if we have time to think, would we act in the same way, with the same emotion? What I want to propose in this chapter is the necessity of ‘emotional maturity’ on the part of athletes, a maturity that will be crucial in difficult moments of their sporting activity and actions.
