ABSTRACT
Note that research reports in journals are almost always the primary source (i.e.,
original source) of research findings. Reports of research in books and nonacademic periodi-
cals such as weekly newsmagazines are almost always secondary sources, which are typically
brief and may be oversimplified. As a consequence, the primary sources in journals should be
emphasized by students conducting term-project surveys.
