ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book provides a systematic analysis of "liking" and also the word around it in order to open up space and time to think about its ubiquity in people's lives, along with its pedagogies and politics. It examines how liking comes to inform what one does. The book offers a critical engagement with the politics and pedagogies of like while illustrating the joys of exploring topics one likes as opposed to topics that may be more productive within the current scholarly moment. However, like is not something we wish to idealize or romanticize. There are problems with liking, being liked, or seeking to be like others. This is true for our everyday lives, our lives as academics, and our lives engaging the publishing industry.
