ABSTRACT

This chapter gives an insight into the diverse range of experiences of people who are working as clinical psychologists in a range of services in the UK. These questions were related to their experiences of qualified life, the profession, reasons for training and advice for people considering clinical psychology, amongst other things. The chapter provides a useful insight into what it is like to work as a clinical psychologist. The clinical psychologists were selected based on their area of speciality, as the role of a clinical psychologist can vary greatly between services. The clinical psychologists were working in Forensic Psychology Services, Paediatric Health Psychology, Adult Mental Health, Neuropsychology and Learning Disability Services. As with the trainee profiles, the information provided here is related to their personal experiences and is not necessarily representative of the experience of other clinical psychologists.
