ABSTRACT

The decisions about careers are made differently now than they were fifty years ago. In many countries there is still the father to son career system. Future careers opportunities can be expected in high tech areas like robotics. All future careers are likely to require a higher level of skills than have been needed in the past. Attitudes toward careers as well as the skills needed should be examined in employee development sessions. One of the employee development sessions might include comparative salaries, rates per hour, possible living expenses associated with a given job, and so forth. Learning about career options, the acquisition of academic skills, the practice of psychomotor skills, and the exploration of attitudes towards careers are all important parts of employee development. The list of academic skills needed for a particular career or profession could be provided for the employees on cards.
