ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on democratic values and ethics. Case studies are effective in helping people think about the values they hold. The ethical behaviour that is part of the warp and woof of a democratic society is based on the values that are held in that society. These values were once described by James Conant in his book, Goals for Americans. Ethical behaviour and value to society have become topics of great concern to many people in the business world. Codes of ethics or a set of rules as they apply to specific industries or to a particular profession are developed by many businesses. Simulation techniques are helpful in examining the values that any group holds. It also provides the participants with the opportunity to 66evaluate and assesses real life situations as they go along. Cultural differences do exist, but there are many similarities between cultures as well.
