ABSTRACT

The three spheres, focussing on Content, Context, and Linguistic Features, provide users with a bottom-up approach to data analysis, using the series of open analytical questions established in relation to the model. The themes approach in the model also allows for comparative study across languages or language programs. Training to date is informal and on the job, targeted directly and immediately to what people need for teaching and their own language acquisition. An issue for translation in language revitalisation generally is the availability of words to match the meanings in the original language. In terms of usage, however, school classes and other events are a lively site of high student interactivity that strongly embraces new language practices in games, songs, and other creative work. Traditional grammar is currently a relatively low priority in the schools program, as words and their capacity to offer an entry into cultural understanding are considered of higher priority in this cross-cultural setting.
