ABSTRACT

The foci of recruitment and advertising activities may have evolved over the years, but the need for those activities continues. Involvement with students in secondary school can help students understand opportunities within computing, experience the joys of creative problem solving, appreciate potential career paths, and provide a foundation for further work. It seems fairly obvious that there are at least two main sources of computing students and majors: prospective students who are considering computer science as a possible major, and students already enrolled at our school who are undeclared or considering other majors. Meet demands from industry for students with strong computing backgrounds. Although enrollments in computing are booming at many schools, statistics regarding the diversity of computing students remain grim. Many potential students and faculty examine online resources in considerable detail when researching undergraduate schools, programs, and faculty positions.
