ABSTRACT

Using an incentive as a reward can be a positive motivator, but unless behavioral change is achieved, it may be only a temporary motivator. Therefore, in order to get the behavioral change that is desired, the company needs to be aware that workers hold a more positive attitude toward their work when their supervisor provides them with the reward that they desire and is most meaningful or of value to them. Also, it has been found that employees are very receptive to rewards given to them that were not expected. Rewards of this nature seem to be even more satisfying and are received more enthusiastically than the rewards they knew they were going to receive.
