ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the 37 studies that all used the investment game, we found that 25 of the 37 failed to provide statistical evidence for gender difference. Approximately 28" of the women in the pooled sample invest more than the male mean percentage in the risky asset, and approximately 27" of men invest less in the risky asset than the female mean percentage. About 21" of women invest one-fifth or less of their endowment in the risky asset, while about 11" of men do the same. About 29" of men invest all of their endowment in risky asset; the percent of women who do likewise is about 13". It happens to be a particularity of these data that one of these comparisons is very sensitive to sample issues. The mean amount invested by women in the pooled data is, as was mentioned above, 49.31", which is very close to the 50" value that is modal for both men and women.
