ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book emphasizes how connection is about helping youth find out who they are, and where they belong, and letting them know that their past traumatic experiences are not their fault. The Get Connected model has a 'universal design' approach because it is designed for high-risk youth but can be effective for engaging and working with any youth in the child welfare system, or any youth in general as all youth value relationship, appreciate being consulted in decisions about their lives, and want help and support to be available when they need it. Making a meaningful connection with a youth is not just about being warm and fuzzy; it is well-researched and evidence-based practice that makes a difference in people's lives.
