ABSTRACT

When compared with contrasting theories, even the theory of an authoritarian personality does not hold up. This theory was elaborated by Theodor Adorno, Max Horkheimer, and other sociologists of the Frankfurt School, who saw a prevalence of evil, a conscious predisposition to usurp and quash the next man (according to an innate tendency towards self-preservation), through the selection of evil personalities that have characteristics suited to form an elite that will hold power.
