ABSTRACT
Fear makes us seek out personal forms of defence, because we know that no one will come to help us and that in the future there will be no prospects. Among the reactions we see in the face of this constant threat, only a few fi nd an answer in a physical need, of a material nature, while others fi nd it in reassuring solutions of a psychological or irrational sort: consumerism versus spiritualism.
