ABSTRACT

Software ecosystems, as a concept, allow companies to focus their internal resources on the activities that are the most differentiating to their customers and to rely on the ecosystem for everything else. The organizational culture at most, especially older, companies often started as internally focused and over time the company learned to rely more on its partners. Initially, these kinds of engagements are more ad hoc and tactical in nature, but over time these become more and more strategic in nature.
